This week at Soho we are loving the addition of a bright front door, its undeniably fun. A vivid colour works for both contemporary and older homes, but if this finish isn’t for you, a darker hue in a high gloss is a stylish decision. Once you’ve chosen the colour for your door don’t forget to consider a brass door handle or knocker to complete your statement entry.
The addition of a scatter cushion made in a bright pattern or textured fabric always lifts a tired space. Custom- made cushions are a sensible investment, especially when quality fabrics and fillings are used. They make the world of difference by connecting your existing pieces of furniture.
The entrance sets the tone for your entire home, which is why the addition of a bold piece or a bright wallpaper in your foyer can have a major impact. Upholstered bench seats or a statement console are a classic choice. We are currently installing a beautiful entrance to an inner city apartment that we will showcase over coming weeks.
Bar stool's have the capability of making a bold statement in your kitchen, providing a new surface and determining the style of the space. Height, fabric and style are a few of the many things to consider when searching for the ideal bar stool. The woven framed stools have been integrated into many past projects, and keep your eyes peeled as we are awaiting the arrival of some new ones for a current install.
Wallpaper has the capability of changing not only a room but the feel of an entire home. Using wallpaper in your bathroom can alter the design of the space, a bright floral or perhaps a geometric pattern welcomes a contemporary feel in a classic manner. If unsure about a dynamic pattern overwhelming a space, you could try using it from vanity height through to ceiling.
Soho Interiors have had a very fun few weeks perusing tiles for an apartment install thats currently underway. There are many important things to consider when choosing the right style of tile for your home. Firstly, the room size, light tiles will make the space appear larger, whilst different coloured tiles have the capability of determining the feel of a space. We are opting for a deeper shade of grey for a more contemporary look.
The addition of metal studs as a feature on your upholstered furniture can bring an added dimension to your interiors. The contrast of an embossed metal stud against a pattern with softer undertones is a timeless design decision.
These dining room chairs are from the Soho archive. The detail of the burnished brass stud with french antique chair upholstered in the dainty dragonfly fabric is the most elegant and classic combination.
Incorporating greenery into your interiors brings life into your home, softening the barrier between indoors and outdoors. Indoor plants can soften hard corners whilst adding textural contrast and depth. Seasonal flowers can offer a burst of bright colour, bringing freshness to a dull space.
Some hearty favourites of ours are Aloe Vera, English Ivy, Fiddle leaf figs and of course orchids. The Soho showroom has a mixture of succulents, magnolias and large palm leaves on display this week to accompany our rainforest inspired wallpaper.
Marble is a timeless natural stone. There are many ways to incorporate marble in your home, outside the bathroom and kitchen. A little bit can go a long way, which is why we are loving the variety of the Marble Basics products.
Currently at Soho we have various marble shapes doted around our timber studio table - a beautiful textural and organic duo. Combining marble into your table settings, with the addition of elegant marble coasters and platters adds a level of luxury to entertaining.
If you wish to adorn your home with marble accents, please enquire at Soho Interiors.
Choosing the ideal window treatment for a space can be a difficult design decision. There are various aspects that should be taken into considered, such as the windows aspect and direct sun exposure, the rooms purpose in relation to privacy, block-out and overall ambience and the existing pieces that make up the space. Selecting fabrics that are appropriate for Queensland’s sub-tropical climate and harsh sun exposure is a critical for smart and enduring window treatments.
Please schedule a consultation with the Soho Interiors team if you are considering what type of window treatment is best for you.
Pink or blue? Gone are the days of designing a nursery around a particular hue. We are seeing an increase of design for children’s spaces in the industry at the moment. Our favourites are of an Australian heritage, varying from native wattles to cheeky wombats.
As we steer away from traditional pastels, a contemporary approach is dominating consisting of bright colours and bold stripes, a visual wonder for little eyes!
This dreary drizzle has us all dreaming about being curled up on our sofas at home. There are multiple factors to consider when you are choosing the perfect sofa.
Firstly, consider the scale of the room to determine the sofa configuration. What is the sole purpose of the space? As formal rooms suit a classic central arrangement, TV rooms will require the sofa to be oriented towards the screen.
Now for our favourite part, to choose the right upholstery: luxurious fabrics like velvet and linen are far more durable these days so they aren’t limited to only formal spaces. Showcasing a recent design and upholster for a dear client of ours.
We can feel that slight chill in the air, it’s hard to believe May is already here! Keep your interiors cosy with dark and moody hues of charcoal, chocolate and slate with earthy touches of hot mustards and fiery rusts to warm the space.
Indulge in this trend forecast for your home this Autumn.

Do you have a timeless antique piece that you can’t seem to part with? Most of us poses at least one sentimental piece that’s either been passed down through generations or we have sourced along the way.
We have a lot of clients who struggle to incorporate these pieces into their interiors. Upholstering antique furniture in a fabric can add a contemporary twist or uphold its original integrity.
By maintaining these pieces, it can make it possible to style and incorporate them into a contemporary setting. We encourage you to contact us to assist with your antique queries.
Lighting is a defining accessory for your home. The addition of different styles of lighting has the potential of zoning spaces and creating ambience.
A grand pendant light can become an integral feature in a space. Whilst bedside lamps are an economical and effective way to add depth to your bedroom.
Soho are eagerly awaiting the arrival of a custom pendant shade to join our vibrant leafy wallpaper, the final piece to completing our window display so ensure you keep your eyes peeled.
Layering through texture is a sophisticated way to add a level of depth to a space. With a majority of our time spent staring at flat screens the addition of varying textures can be a visual feast.
If you are considering integrating new textures into your home please get in contact with the Soho team.
On our recent trip to Hong Kong we enjoyed the most fabulous evening at the opening of CJ Hendry’s collaboration with Christian Louboutin, “Complimentary Colours.” She is a true inspiration to all of us, especially the young artists following their dreams.
The colour navy in varying hues has never really gone out of style. Navy blue pairs well with almost any colour scheme, a safe choice for a more discerning client. Bold splashes can lend a level of mystery to a space without making it feel small, as black sometimes can.
We are seeing a lot of wallpapers and soft furnishings utilising this tone of blue, it truly adds a spectacular level of depth to a space. Especially with the addition of a couple of cushions in a contrasting pattern or texture, adding a modern twist with a traditional feel.
The introduction of this colour into your home is far from daunting. Its versatility allows it to match your existing pieces of furniture with the capability of changing the way you see a perhaps tired space. We encourage you to contact our Studio so we can design an ideal scheme for your home.
“Greenery” the 2017 Pantone Colour of The Year, representing refreshment and revitalization. The addition of this bright shade of Green in the Soho studio has us all in awe.
This antique settee was given a full facelift with a little TLC and the addition of new upholstery. Being the perfect example of layering old and new, giving this timeless piece of furniture a modern twist, whilst preserving its personality.
Its bright presence is very welcoming to those who pass through our front door, ensure you keep up to date with our social media accounts as we are in the process of designing cushions to accompany this piece.
The Soho team enjoyed a lovely evening last week as we viewed the latest collection from Elitis. Their innovative designs are a Soho favourite, having used them for countless displays in the studio.
The story behind the design of each individual fabric or wallpaper coincides with the pristine quality and durability of this brand. Their designs are timeless yet relevant as they always align with current trends.
We are looking forward to seeing these on upholsteries as well as wall coverings. Here is a sneak preview of the beautiful Chloe amongst one of the displays on the night. Please stay tuned as we eagerly await the arrival of samples from Paris.
